Privacy
This site collects almost nothing about you: no cookies, no ads, no tracking across sites.
It's run by Ali Lyons, an individual in Philadelphia, USA.
What happens when you visit
- No cookies. The site sets none, so there's no consent banner.
- Simple, cookieless visitor counts. I use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read. Cloudflare says it uses no cookies, doesn't fingerprint your device, and doesn't follow you across sites. No Google Analytics, no ad pixels.
- No accounts, forms, or comments. There's nothing to fill in.
- Almost nothing loads from other sites. Fonts, images, and styles all come from alilyons.com. The only outside file is Cloudflare's analytics script.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare sees basic details of each request, such as your IP address and browser, in order to deliver the page and block attacks.
Mostly I see totals, like how many requests the site got in a day. If Cloudflare blocks or challenges a request as suspicious, its security log shows me that request's IP address and browser. I don't use that to identify anyone.
Two smaller things Cloudflare does:
- If Cloudflare needs to check that you're not a bot, it may set a short-lived security cookie.
- On pages that show my email address, a small script hides the address from spam bots and reveals it to you. It doesn't track anything. Without JavaScript, the link shows a Cloudflare notice instead.
If you email me
My email is hosted by Google, so your message goes to my Gmail account. I'll use it to reply and keep it the way I keep any email. If you'd like it deleted, ask and I will.
Links to other sites
Links to LinkedIn, GitHub, and elsewhere take you to sites with their own privacy policies. Those sites can see that you came from alilyons.com, but not which page.
Changes
I'll update this page before adding a newsletter, a contact form, or anything else that collects data.
